Stairways to heaven: precise measurements and searches at the LHC experiments

The latest precision results and the many searches for new particles conducted at the ATLAS and CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will be presented. These findings represent a significant leap forward in our understanding of the fundamental principles that govern the universe. The collaborations have pursued a comprehensive exploration of the Standard Model (SM) of elementary particle physics. The precise measurements not only validate the existing theoretical framework but also provide essential constraints for beyond the Standard Model theories. Emphasis will be given to Higgs boson physics: while the discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 completed the particle content of the SM, in the ten years following the discovery, great progress has been made in painting its clear portrait. The data that will be collected in next years will allow to access the Higgs boson self-interaction strength, a crucial parameter in relation with the metastability of the universe.

The Colloquium Ehrenfestii takes place Wednesday evenings starting at 19:30 hours in the main auditorium of the Oort building. Before the Colloquium, there is a common dinner in the canteen located on the ground floor of the Oort building. This dinner starts at 18:00 hours sharp and is free of charge, under the condition that one attends the colloquium and that one has made a reservation before noon on the Tuesday preceding the colloquium.

We count on your presence if you register, please do show up. Meal registrations may close earlier, when 80 persons have signed up.
